Experience the joy and magic of shibori dyeing with natural Japanese indigo in this two day workshop.
In two full days we are able to play with all the major types of pattern making including itajime folding and clamping, makiage tying, arashi pole wrapping, nuishibori stitched techniques and so much more!
There is no requirements list! Just walk into class and enjoy learning and dyeing. We provide indigo vats, aprons, gloves, our purpose-made resists, and all you need to try a full range of techniques. We recommend you wear old clothes and shoes in case of splashes.
We are holding the workshop at Strathnairn Homestead in Canberra - enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, view of the Brindabellas - and the gorgeous Stepping Stones cafe at the venue.
* Please note that participants cannot bring their own materials for dyeing as we cannot guarantee the result or the effect on our vat. for people who wish to dye later at home. However, you may dye some samples on site for testing purposes at the end of the workshop.

" Alison & Shuji get a 10 out of 10 - I have been to many workshops in my time as a creative but Alison & Shuji have now set the standard for future workshops VERY high! Both Alison & Shuji's friendly, relaxed & patient yet professional delivery of the information & techniques was excellent. The encouragement of questions & regular reminders from them both that no question was a silly question really made the workshop environment feel supportive & that anything was possible. When I wear or work with the pieces that I created in this workshop I will be reminded of the wonderful tutors that helped me create these pieces."
