Hello and welcome! We're Shuji and Alison Yamazaki from Wabi-Sabi Designs. We are based in Canberra now with our daughter Miho, although Shuji is from Gunma in the mountains north of Tokyo, and Alison spent many happy years living in Japan.
We have specialised in Japanese textiles and textile techniques for 25 years. We love to share the joy of
Japanese dyeing, stitching and sewing traditions through classes, patterns and kits for a range of Japanese bags, accessories and quilts. To enable people to undertake their dream Japanese project, we stock Australia’s best range of Japanese cotton quilting fabrics, Japanese indigo and shibori supplies.
In non-COVID times Shuji leads highly sought-after small group textile and other specialist tours to Japan.
You can find us at Craft Alive and Expertise craft shows. We also teach shibori techniques and Japanese stitching traditions around Australia and internationally. Get in touch if your group or guild would like to host a workshop or lecture.
